Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a surprise visit to Ukraine today (sun) amid the on-going invasion from Russia.
Trudeau was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland and Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly. The three arrived in Kyiv yesterday morning.
A message from the Prime Minister’s Office says he is set to meet with G7 leaders today (sun) along with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to show Canada’s support for Ukraine.
Trudeau alongside Joly and Freeland raised the Canadian flag at the Canadian embassy in Kyiv.
Trudeau spoke to reporters saying the flag came down February 13th and they’re glad to be raising it again.
United States First Lady Jill Biden also made a surprise visit to Ukraine today (Sun) to meet with local mothers and her Ukrainian counterpart.
